Kanroji Tsunemoto (甘露寺経元)

Tsunemoto KANROJI (1535 – June 5, 1585) was a court noble during the Muromachi to Azuchi-Momomyama Period.

The 27th head of the Kanroji family (lineage can be traced to the Kajuji line of the Takafuji group of the Northern House of the Fujiwara clan, a noble family) who were tosho-ke (the hereditary lineage of Court nobles occupying relatively high ranks).

Career

Second son of the non-councilor, Tametoyo SHIMOREIZEI. Gon Dainagon (provisional chief councilor of state), Korenaga KANROJI's foster child. Chief priest, Yoshitada FUJINAMI's wife was his biological child. Kurodo no to (Head Chamberlain), Uchuben (Middle Controller of the Right), Tsuneto KANROJI (actually the second son of the Jun-daijin (Vice Minister), Haretoyo KAJUJI).

He became Sangi (councilor) in 1570. He eventually reached Shonii (Senior Second Rank), Gon Dainagon (provisional chief councilor of state).

In June 1, 1582, (the day before the Raid on the Honno-ji Temple) together with Haretoyo KANROJI, he visited Honno-ji Temple as an Imperial envoy sent by Emperor Googimachi and Imperial Prince Sanehito.
